"White light corona taken during recent solar eclipses -- the streamer's structures
are shaped by the Sun's magnetic field. (optional:) the coronal gas is at a temperature of
more than a million degrees Kelvin. Also visible near the Moon's edge are solar
prominences, which are tongues of much cooler material (about 10,000 degrees Kelvin). They
can be seen with the naked eye during eclipses as red features because of the light they
emit.
